Remote-Area Drilling: Self-Contained Diesel Equipment for Off-Grid Sites

Off-grid sites reward equipment that brings its own power, air and parts — diesel-driven rigs and compressors are the remote-site standard.

1. What changes off the grid

Remote sites have no mains power, no compressor hire nearby and long parts lead times. Equipment must be diesel-driven, mobile and supported by a local service network: Kaishan exports to more than 90 countries with six overseas subsidiaries and 60+ distributors.

2. The remote-site package

  • Diesel two-stage compressors (KSCY / LGCY) — off-grid drilling air from 0.7-3.5 MPa
  • Self-propelled crawler or truck rigs — move without external haulage where roads allow
  • Integrated rigs (KT/KZ) — no separate compressor to transport
  • Cold-start kits and high-efficiency cooling for desert and plateau climates
  • Spare-parts support through the local distributor network

3. Project reference

Kaishan i-series DTH rigs run 5G remote control at scale in Xinjiang coal mines; deep-well compressors serve off-grid water projects across Africa, South America and the Middle East.

Frequently asked questions

Integrated or split for a remote site?

Integrated rigs avoid transporting a separate compressor — the right answer when logistics are the constraint. Split rigs work when the site already has a compressor fleet.

How do we get spare parts in Africa/South America?

Kaishan operates six overseas subsidiaries and 60+ distributors covering major mining regions; we confirm parts support for your country before quotation.

Need equipment matched to your site?
